Does Magic Exist

Stylized image of a medieval Mage-Alchemist.

Many people I have worked with, and indeed just many people in general, are not deeply immersed in esoteric topics. They occasionally question whether Magic exists, pondering if it is all just fiction. Such moments have always personally surprised me - the existence of Magic, and where do doubts arise in a world surrounded by Magic from all sides? People do not doubt many facts, for example, when they, in the morning, preparing for work, switch on the electric kettle or the lights, for some reason, they do not freeze in shock at the thought of whether electricity exists.

Really, this is funny and amusing. Do you think this is an unsuccessful example? Hardly. 99% of people have no idea what electricity is, even those who are professionally involved with it. Despite everyone being taught about it in school, no one really understands this phenomenon. I can tell you this as someone who has had a direct relationship with electronics and electricity for a long time, and even with energy in its official sense. The truth is, people do not see electricity itself, only its derivatives in the form of light coming from a light bulb, or the light from lightning where electrons have enough ENERGY to produce a discharge of light.

Lightning.

And in this paradox, in Magic, everything is the same, no one ever directly sees Magic, with rare exceptions, mostly just derivatives like predictions, influencing situations, influencing people, influencing relationships, influencing the weather, influencing other biological objects, and derivatives of the results of these influences, telepathy, clairvoyance, in rare cases telekinesis, and so on. But none of this has ever affected the belief in Magic, you see, paradox.

In this article, I provide an expanded definition of the term "Magic" for those who overly mystify this word:

1.FOR SELECTED

However, for most people, the moment of insight and enlightenment never comes. Why? None of these 'non-believers' in Magic change their minds, even though Magic has nothing to do with matters of faith in principle. So, no one doubts the existence of radio waves, right, even though they have never seen them directly, and they do not touch them, relative to the argument often made by people that they cannot touch Magic.

Although here We test Magic every day:

2. WELL, WHO WILL DARE AND ASK A TAROLOGIST A QUESTION

Every day, these People encounter phenomena and objects directly related to both radio waves and Magic.

Translate to English

For example, the Schumann resonance is a radio wave that synchronizes the work of the human brain, biological beings worldwide. Or GSM networks of mobile operators that allow people to use mobile phones.

Animation of the Schumann Resonance in the Earth's atmosphere.

But these radio waves, they cannot touch or see them. The whole secret is that their entire faith is based on the fact that some number of scientists, specifically more advanced individuals than them, with more structured consciousness, generated the idea, conducted research, gathered evidence, published results, wrote Books. Then these scientists taught other people, then all together, they created a production system, a physical base for the realization of the idea. That is, they created devices and ultimately presented all this to the Masses. Those who are reading this article, in simple terms, received the finished result in the form of the end product. This product is education, structured knowledge, as well as a product in the form of a ready-made solution that can be held in hands. For example, a mobile phone, a computer, or more massive objects that cannot be touched by hands, such as a nuclear power plant. People also do not see radiation, and if they did not have devices, they would never have known about it, just like the reasons for its demise. The same story applies to viruses, bacteria, and some chemical substances.

Rotavirus, computer reconstruction based on cryo-electron microscopy data.

Once I was watching a documentary film about the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and at the time of the accident, fishermen saw a fire from dozens of kilometers away and watched it from such a distance. When they returned home, their skin was charred, and of course, they did not understand what had happened.

Atoms consist of negatively charged electrons, positively charged protons, and neutral particles called neutrons. Invisible forces of unimaginable power bind the protons and neutrons of an atom into a unified nucleus. However, over time, the nuclei of virtually all atoms decay, releasing part of their energy along with high-powered alpha and beta particles and gamma radiation. Despite being invisible, radioactive radiation can be detected by electronic devices. For instance, the Geiger counter, perhaps the most well-known radiation detector, converts the energy of radioactive radiation into easily measurable electrical signals.

During alpha and beta decay, chemical elements transform into new substances. In gamma decay, only the arrangement of protons and neutrons in the atomic nucleus changes. Illustrated in the top right part of the diagram, the nucleus of neodymium-144 undergoes alpha decay, releasing an alpha particle and transforming into cerium-140. In the middle part of the diagram, beta decay is shown converting lithium-8 into beryllium-8 by transforming a lithium neutron into a proton and emitting a beta particle and a neutral particle known as a neutrino. In the example provided at the bottom, excess nuclear energy in sodium-24 leaves it in the form of gamma radiation, yet the atom itself remains unchanged in other respects.

The thing is that such an attitude, among illiterate people, in various fields, is spread like a halo to everyone insufficiently educated. Towards any unknown area of science, and it has always been this way, they have always rejected innovations and changes, anything new in general. Because new means unknown, and the unknown is always scary, especially for those with a strong animal instinct, as fear rules in the lower Castes primarily. I have written in detail about the Castes in the links provided below.

So what's the deal with Magic? Why do people not understand it, don't want to understand it, and fear it? It all comes down to the lack of true Magicians who know and study Magic as a science. Capable of creating structured material and passing it on to others, explaining this knowledge just like the basics of geometry, mathematics, and physics are explained in school. In the article linked below, I discuss precisely these issues, as well as the problems of the Magic market in general, pricing, and other difficulties affecting such services:

10. PRICE OF THE QUESTION

Too few Wizards, truly possessing Magic Abilities, and at the same time capable of creating and building Magical Machines and science in general. Creating Artifacts and Magical Devices, and without them, nowhere. Well, how will you study bacteria without a microscope. I extensively discussed about Artifacts in the articles through the links below:

15. FREE YOURSELF

I want to tell you a story that perfectly illustrates the attitude of people, including many scientists, on behalf of the so-called official science, towards everything new in the field itself and emerging as if some society of people, having seized power, decides what phenomenon is possible and what is not. Even to that new thing that helps save the lives of those same people.

Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis

Once there lived a man who was placed in a mental asylum (which is not uncommon for an underdeveloped society) for recommending thorough handwashing before all medical procedures.
His name was Ignaz Semmelweis.

16. IGNAZ PHILIPP SEMMELWEIS

He was born in 1818 in the town of Oberdöbling near Vienna. He graduated from the University of Vienna, specializing as a physician-obstetrician. After graduation, he worked in a maternity hospital. From 1851, he headed the Hospital of St. Roch, and later began teaching at the University in Budapest as a professor. During his scientific career, he studied the causes of puerperal fever in women (sepsis). At that time, the mortality rate in maternity hospitals was very high, reaching about 30-50%! This significantly exceeded the mortality rate during home births. Investigating this issue, Ignaz speculated that the lack of adherence to sanitary practices in hospitals during medical procedures could be the cause. Doctors could attend births immediately after performing autopsies or returning from infectious disease wards, merely wiping their hands with a cloth.

Translate to English

Ignaz Semmelweis required the staff to disinfect their hands using a solution of chlorinated lime. Thanks to this, he managed to reduce the mortality rate of mothers and newborns by more than 7 times—to 2.5%! This discovery seemed self-evident, but in the medical-scientific community, it was met not only with rejection but also sharp criticism, including towards the doctor himself. He was prohibited from publishing statistics on mortality reduction and furthermore, was dismissed from the clinic where he worked. Semmelweis participated in scientific and medical communities, organized physician training, and engaged in other educational activities. However, his efforts yielded no results during his lifetime, and maternal deaths continued. The medical community was so inflexible and unwilling to change established practices that not even the suicide of another doctor—Gustav Michaelis—could convince them. He was one of the few who began using antiseptics in his practice and achieved a reduction in patient mortality. The suicide of a close person due to puerperal fever and the realization of the community's unwillingness to change their views led him to commit suicide. There is information that a colleague and family physician of Semmelweis prepared documents to have him sent to a psychiatric hospital. Semmelweis was deceived into visiting a madhouse, and when he realized what was happening, he was beaten, put in a straitjacket, and placed in a dark room. He was treated with cold water dousing and laxatives. Semmelweis died two weeks after such treatment. Recognition of Semmelweis as the founder of asepsis and his contributions to medicine only occurred after his death. Today, in psychology, there is a concept of the “Semmelweis Reflex”—it denotes the rejection of new data based on contradicting established beliefs.

Advertising poster for the movie 'Planet of the Apes' from 1986.

As you can see, our World is more of a World of Apes, nothing has changed since then, despite the impressive results in Magic, the attitude towards it remains the same as in the Middle Ages. And if you don't see radiation or microbes and viruses, it doesn't mean at all that they can't kill you. People have always been eager to burn and destroy scientists of all kinds by all available means, as well as Magicians.

On February 17, 1600, the scientist Nicolaus Copernicus was burned at the stake in the Campo de' Fiori square in Rome.

17. NICOLAUS COPERNICUS

And until there appear Magi so powerful that they cannot instantly summon lightning with their gaze, thereby stopping inadequate people. And their number will not exceed a certain critical value, persecutions of Esotericism, Magic, and Occultism by savages will continue.

18. GIORDANO BRUNO

Unlike Copernicus' works, Giordano Bruno's books remained on the Index of Forbidden Books until its final publication in 1948.

The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge

"When a person starts to learn, they never have a clear idea of the obstacles. Their goal is vague, their intention unstable. They expect a reward they will never receive because they are not yet aware of the upcoming trials.
Learning always turns out to be not what is expected. Every step is a new challenge, and the fear a person experiences grows relentlessly and steadily. Their goal becomes a battlefield. And thus, their first natural enemy appears before them:"

FEAR

Canvas by the artist Maria Yakunchikova, 'Fear', 1893-95.

Terrible enemy, cunning, relentless. He lurks around every corner, sneaking up and waiting. And if a person, trembling before his face, turns to flee, his enemy will put an end to his pursuits. The person will never become a person of knowledge. He may become a chatterer or a harmless frightened person; but in any case, he will be defeated. To overcome fear, one just needs to not run away.
A person must conquer his fear and take the next step in learning, and another step, and another, despite it. He may be completely intimidated, yet he must not stop. And the day will come when his first enemy will retreat. The person will feel confident. His intention will strengthen. Learning will no longer be a daunting task. When that happy day comes, the person can confidently say that he has defeated his first natural enemy. It happens gradually, yet fear disappears suddenly, in an instant. One who has once overcome fear is free from it for the rest of his days, because instead of fear, clarity comes, dispelling fear. By that time, a person knows all his desires and knows what to do with them; he can discover or take new steps in learning, and all his actions are permeated with sharp clarity. A person feels that there are no secrets for him. And so he encounters his second enemy:

CLARITY

Insight (Series “The Seventh Seal”) Artist: Andrey Stavitsky

This Clarity, so hard to achieve, dispels fear, but it also blinds. It makes a person not doubt themselves. It gives the confidence that they see everything clearly. But all this is a deception. If a person succumbs to their imaginary power, it means they are defeated by the second enemy and will be stuck in learning without progress. They will rush forward when they should wait, or they will wait when they shouldn't hesitate. Thus, instead of a knowledgeable person, one can become a brave warrior, or, let's say, a fool. However, the Clarity, for which they paid dearly, will never turn back into darkness and fear.
To avoid defeat, one must overcome clarity and use it only to see and patiently wait, carefully weighing everything before each new step; and above all—know that their clarity is essentially illusory. And one day they will see that Clarity was just a dot in front of their eyes. Only then can they defeat their second natural enemy and reach a position where nothing can harm them. And this will not be a deception, it will be genuine strength. At this stage, it will become clear to them that the power they have long pursued finally belongs to them. They can do whatever they want with it. Their desire is law. They see through everything around them. This means that the third enemy is before them:

STRENGTH

Grigory Ugryumov The Trial of Strength of Yana Usmarya. 1796 (1797?) Canvas, oil. 283 × 404 cm State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg (inv. Zh-5052)

This is the most formidable enemy. And of course, it is easiest to just surrender; after all, its possessor is truly invincible. Here, a person rarely notices the third enemy, who is already looming over them. And they do not suspect that the battle has already been lost. They are turned by their enemy into a cruel, capricious person. But neither Clarity nor strength will they ever lose. A person defeated by their own strength differs from a knowledgeable person in that the former dies without ever truly knowing what to do with it. Strength is only a burden in their destiny. Such a person has no control over themselves and cannot say when and how to use their strength. But if a person was only temporarily blinded by strength and then renounced it, it means not all is lost, and they are still trying to become a person of knowledge. A person is only defeated when they have abandoned all attempts and renounced themselves. To defeat the third enemy, understanding is necessary. A person must come to understand that the power they seemingly conquered does not truly belong to them and never can. They must establish themselves in unwavering self-control, soberly and selflessly using all they have learned. If they can see that without self-control, Clarity and Strength are worse than illusion, they will reach a point where everything is under their command.
Then they will know when and how to use their strength. This will mean that they have defeated their third enemy and reached the end of their journey in learning. And then, without any warning, the final enemy overtakes them:

OLD AGE

Old Men (Tea Drinking). V. E. Makovsky, 1881

This is the cruelest enemy that cannot be defeated, only postponed one's defeat. It is the time when a person has rid themselves of fears, of unbridled and insatiable clarity, the time when all their strength is at their disposal, but also the time when an irresistible desire to rest, to lie down, to forget takes over. If one allows it, if one lulls themselves with fatigue, they will miss their final battle, and the lurking enemy will strike them, turning them into an old insignificant being. The desire to retreat will overshadow their clarity, negate all their strength and knowledge.
But if a person shakes off the fatigue and lives out their destiny to the end, then they can truly be called a person of knowledge, if only briefly, if only for that brief moment when they manage to drive away the last invincible enemy. Just that moment of clarity, strength, and knowledge is already enough.
